English Notebook Requirements
Mr. Budd’s Speech and Debate Classes
Class procedures and regulations require that the student have, “One white three ring 1” clear slip cover binder (must match classroom example).” And, “Five tabbed dividers for notebook and one pocket divider for loose papers.”
This notebook is to be organized as follows:
- Tab 1. Reference Section – items designated for reference. These items will stay in the notebook through out the school year and will not change a great deal.
- Tab 2. Do Now / Journal Section – items related to the “Bell Ringer” or “Do Now” assignments. Sometimes other items will be designated to be placed in this section, e.g. the entire “Debate Prep” section will be placed here.
- Tab 3. Class Assignments Section – class notes, class work, homework, quizzes, and tests will go here unless designated for other placement
- Tab 4. Writing Section – Speech Outlines, Manuscripts, etc. (rough drafts, research materials, etc.)
- Tab 5. Vocabulary Section – all vocabulary lists, worksheets, and quizzes (except those items related to work in a novel which have their own section—see # 2 above)
This notebook is to be maintained on a daily basis and is not to contain work from other classes or activities. Other work found in the notebook will be discarded by the teacher without comment to the student. Any objectionable material may be referred for discipline.
The student is responsible for knowing what is to be contained in the notebook and where it is to be stored. A list will be maintained by the teacher either or both on posted sheets in the class room and on the website.
This notebook may be checked by the teacher on any day without notice. Notice will be given for regular graded checks (on roughly a quarterly basis) on the orderliness and completeness of the notebook.
